Child Labour Policy & Statement

Websoft Pte Limited (“Websoft”) is committed to protecting children’s rights and upholding the highest standards of ethical employment across our operations and supply chain. We prohibit child labour and any practice that exploits children, directly or indirectly. This statement covers the financial years 2025-2026.

Zero Child Labour

We do not engage in or support child labour. Employment is strictly limited to individuals who meet the legal minimum age for work.

Minimum Age Standards

We align with ILO Conventions (C138 & C182) and applicable national laws on minimum age and worst forms of child labour.

Robust Age Verification

We verify age at hiring and require suppliers to maintain verifiable proof of age documentation and processes.

Remediation First

If a case is identified, we prioritise the best interests of the child with responsible remediation plans.

Our Business & Supply Chain

Websoft operates in the ICT sector across Fiji, delivering Digital Services, Development and Consultation. While our direct operations present lower inherent risk, elements of our supply chain (e.g., hardware, apparel, logistics, cleaning, construction) can be higher risk and therefore receive enhanced due diligence.

Policies & Governance

  • Code of Conduct: Prohibits child labour and sets expectations for ethical conduct by employees and contractors.
  • Supplier Code of Conduct: Requires compliance with minimum age laws, ILO standards, and safe working conditions.
  • Recruitment Policy: No recruitment fees; mandatory right-to-work and age verification prior to engagement.
  • Whistleblowing: Confidential channels for reporting concerns without retaliation.
  • Sanctions for Breach: Corrective action plans, suspension, or termination of supplier contracts for non-compliance.

Risk Assessment & Due Diligence

We apply a risk-based approach to identify and mitigate child labour risks:

  • Onboarding Checks: Country/sector risk screening, adverse media, and compliance attestations.
  • Contractual Controls: Clauses on minimum age, document retention, audit rights, and remediation obligations.
  • Monitoring: Periodic reassessments, supplier questionnaires, and targeted on-site verification where proportionate.
  • Escalation: Time-bound remediation; if unresolved, suspension or termination.

Supplier Requirements

  • Prohibit employment of anyone below the legal minimum working age; no retention of identity documents.
  • Maintain accurate, auditable age-verification records (e.g., government ID, birth certificate, school records).
  • Ensure working hours, rest periods, and tasks are lawful and appropriate for the worker’s age.
  • Permit independent verification/audits where reasonably requested by Websoft.

Young Workers & Apprentices

Where local law allows the employment of young workers (above minimum age but under 18), we ensure:

  • No hazardous work or night shifts; tasks are age-appropriate and supervised.
  • Strict adherence to working hour limits and mandatory rest breaks.
  • Support for education or training programs where applicable.

Training & Awareness

Training is prioritised for procurement, operations, and HR teams, covering:

  • Legal minimum age requirements and documentation standards
  • High-risk geographies/sectors and warning signs
  • Escalation and remediation procedures

Reporting Concerns

Anyone can report concerns confidentially via our contact page: websoft.com.fj/pages/contact. We investigate all reports and protect good-faith reporters from retaliation. Where harm is identified, we prioritise child-centred remediation in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders.

Measuring Effectiveness

  • Training Coverage: 100% of relevant staff trained annually
  • Supplier Screening: 100% of high-risk suppliers assessed and contracted with age-verification clauses
  • Incidents & Remediation: Number of substantiated cases; time to implement corrective actions
  • Audit Results: Severity and recurrence of findings over time
